acroadam Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 How much does the engine weigh? I'm looking to ship it to Jeff@ FAST to get engine overhauled. Thanks Quote
acroadam Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 under 100 pounds. i think a 421 had a shipping weight of 90lbs. Thanks. Who ships it? Ups or USPS? Quote
acroadam Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 i use ups for heavy things like this. i bolts my engine to a piece of plywood using the lower engine mounts. then put cardboard around it. make sure to drain all the oil and everything first. Ok. When you get it all packed, do u just take it to the ups store? How much is it usually? Quote
wacko2000 Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Fuck that, do it the right way and build a box, may cost ya a few more dollars but its safe and sound. Ive shipped my motors out a few times and the builders appreciate when they see this, not ya shit stuffed in a rubbermaid bin.. You shelling out some coin for ya motor, whats a extra 50bucks really. Heres what i did, built a box, made some handles and screw 2 ratchet straps to the bottom of the box, laid the motor in and strapped her in. I also bought a bag of shipping peanuts and filled the box up.. Awesome!!! I used 3/4 ply, you could get away with 1/2 but its up to you... I think it cost me 100.00 to ship the first time Joe Quote
wacko2000 Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Awesomeeeee you know how i do son Quote
knelson Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 I've used plastic igloo coolers to ship engines, never had any issues. Even sent a heavy 450r engine round trip coast to coast and no problems. Quote
barahonapr Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 Cost me 55 through fed ex to ship my whole engine..try them.. Quote
