lowbuckracing Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 Did it run fine when u bought it? Quote
#1JUANstunna Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 Is the idle set high enough? Have you do anything different since you bought it? Clean the carbs and report back. Make sure and put the slides in the correct way also. Quote
seabass Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) Does it have an idle kit installed after the tors was removed? Look on the side of the carbs. There should be two obvious adjustments that were installed. If not, it won't idle. Edited October 11, 2011 by seabass Quote
sebby85 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 It didnt idle when i bought it it has a have ass idle kit they put two screws in it and it doent look like it has the throttle cable kit on and just finished cleaning the carbs slides are in properly nto sure where to go from here Quote
Jereme6655 Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 okay.....the idle kit looks like 2 brass screws that go into the carbs (both go on out-bound sides of each carb). have you tried adjusting the idle with those? This is how you get a baseline with the idle kit..........start bike and use throttle to hold a desired idle while taking your other hand and slightly turning the idle screws in until they touch....then give each an additional 1/8 turn in. This will set the idle at that speed you had held with the throttle. Then you can use a sync tool to fine tune it. it could also be that the person who installed it may not have filed down enough of the "boss" on the side of the carb to allow the idle screw to reach into the carb body........this is easy to diagnose too.....just pull the slides out and then screw the idle screw in and look into the carb.....if you can see the end of the screw coming through then its been filed enough. sebby85 Posted October 15, 2011 Author Report Posted October 15, 2011 ok ill try looking at that and the person who removed the tors put two dumb ass machine screws in the carbs instead of the idle screws that come with the removal kit should i just buy those and then start trying to make this thing idle Quote
Trailrider007 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Just about the same thing happened to me, the guy removed the TORS and left an idle screw out of the right carb. Then when I was trying to figure out why it was so hard to start I took the carbs apart, and there were several parts missing out of the internals. So if you havent already, I would definately go through them and make sure everything is correct on the insides before you do anything else. Quote
