I just got a hold of 2 old school YZR 350 street bike motors. I'm looking for any info you guys can give me on them. Are the trannys the same or do they have a different ratio? Is that a good thing? Would a pavement dragger want them? Are the cranks and internals the same? What are they worth? I've got 2 that are complete....they look fairly complete, just missing the carbs, intakes, reeds. Both motors have powervalves, but seem to be missing a part that might have mounted to the fame and also connected to the powervalves. School me fellas.......I dodn't want to use them...I'm thinking of parting them (pull top ends and sell seperate, then sell bottom ends as "Banshee bottom ends/cases". Thoughts? Any of you want or need these? guesstimate of value? Thanks.

Are you sure you don't mean rz350?

 OK, like I said...not up to speed on them. So, Yeah...I guess I'm talking about an RZ350. I'm pretty sure they only put the Banshee motor in ONE street bike, so I guess it's a RZ350.

Got any knowledge of them?

Yeah I just google it they are the same sorry, I don't know much but if you had the complete bike it would be worth decent money. I've been looking for a beat up one to turn into a cafe racer. They go for around 3 grand for a trashed one.

For a while people wanted the rz350 top ends to gain some low end with out sacrificing topend performance. But now that the serval cylinders have hit the market I wouldn't want them . But that's my personal opinion I'm sure if you eBay em you can get rid of them fairly quickly . People always want something diff to make there Banshee stand out . Do you have the controller to operate the pv s. That will really help the sale. Good luck man

If im not mistaken, the banshee motor came in two street bike versions, the rz350 and the rd350. As far as i know the only big difference between the two are that the RD is air cooled where as the RZ is water cooled.

So.............one guy says he "Googled it" and that they are the same. Another guy says they are very different. Nobody can bother to type WHAT or HOW they are different. No guess as to their value. No answers to any of my questions. :shrugani:

Well.........How very helpfull..........

I could get help like this on a Raptor forum. :jesterlaugh: Thanks.....

The RZ engine shares the same bore x stroke as a banshee same cases clutch ..shit like that

The main differences are power valved cylinders which are controlled by ignition / pv controller / servo motor - cables.. the RZ cylinders have higher port timings in stock trim then a Banshee netting them more power.. U.S. models being rated in the mid 50's and the later Canadian models being rated in the low 60's.

They have better shift forks (roller guide pins rather then solid guide pins for the banshee), they have a wide ratio transmission, have a higher output stator for the bikes lighting system, they ave a better ignition curve then the banshee - a lil more aggressive and with 4* more advance built into the CDI.

The early RZ cases had extra holes in the cases where the mechanical tach drive was driven (they are just bosses in the banshee cases - back top) and the RZ had an oil pump driven off from the water pump for oil injection.

With a good ATV type port job, you should be able to net 75 - 80 hp with ease and there are aftermarket ignition system / power valve controllers out there to dial them in to pipe / carb, riding style, port job configurations.

I have a set ported by Jim of Passion Racing Engines ( 4 mil 12 port RZ cylinders with a hot Dune port durations ) that Jim claims will be possibly high 70's maybe low 80's.

I hope I have covered everything you are asking,

 Thank you. That was a very nice answer. I had thought I'd remembered about the tranny gearing being different, but I didn't know anything about how the P.V.s worked. :)
