Jgspahn Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Aight, so I ressurected a banshee from a 6-7 year hybernation. This is my first bike so im still below the learning curve on just about everything. I want the bike to be well maintained, and almost like new, so that it will last a long time. Heres what ive done (or in the process of doing) so far, NOT including motor and mods. A-arm bushings Swingarm bushing Wheel bearing Steering column bearing? Lubed cables Replaced brake pads and bled brakes New oversized radiator, and high flow water pump Is there anything else that Im leaving out here? Quote
locogato11283 Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Carrier bearings would be a good thing to check. Air filters also. Aside from that you're probably good to go. You might want to clean the carbs if it's been sitting with fuel in it. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 If it's not to late add a grease zerk to the swingarm, make a mark where you want it before you tear it apart, you'll want it a little off center. Ask me how I know . Also add a zerk to the carrier before you put new bearings in, pull the inner grease seals off them. Also coat axle, swinger bolt, pivot bolts with anti-seize where they go thru sleeves. Also brake and sprocket hub splines. Quote
90Bansheedude Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Sounds like you got a good start. I would change the oil also. Im assuming you changed out the antifreeze when you did the radiator. Id drain the gas too, and put in fresh. Lube the chain if its still good and a non oring type. Grease anything that already has zerks. (I cant remember if stock balljoints and such have zerks or not) Brian Quote
