bansheechas Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 I just bought a actron compression tester and it came with a 14mm long reach adapter which I thought I read that that's what fit it but it doesn't fit. So I was looking and couldnt find it anywhere but what is the right thread adapter? Quote
bigblockbanshee Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) You wouldn't happen to be trying to screw them into a coolhead dome would you? Reason I ask is I have a Craftsman compression tester kit with about every thread size out there and it won't work with my Top Notch Design 22cc domes. As far as I know the Top Notch head is identical to a Pro Design save for some aesthetics, but the domes, o-rings, etc. are the same. All I can figure is that it's a different grade of threads (tolerances) because the same adapter works with a stock head just fine. Hope that helps, sounds like you've got the correct adapter to me. bansheechas Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 Yeah it's a pro design 21 cc dome. It will thread in about 1-2 full turns then stop and get hard I was afriad to just go torque it down and it not be right I'll go give it a try again. I just got the banshee off cl, I traded my mustang for it so I wanted to get a idea where I was at with the bike so I can mod it accordingly plus it's my first banshee so Im pretty new to two strokes I apprecriate the help this site has lots of good info! bigblockbanshee Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 I wouldn't try it again. I'd probably try to find someone with a different brand of compression tester or just the adapters and see if they work. Provided the threads are clean, the adapter should thread right down into the dome with relative ease. If you force it you run the risk of damaging the threads in the dome since it's aluminum. For that reason alone I never got to check my compression before I ran my motor the first time. Quote
bansheechas Posted September 14, 2011 Author Report Posted September 14, 2011 Ah ok. I haven't tried it yet good thing checked here. Quote
Drturbodiesel Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 I can't call what the size is but I have a mac tools compression tester and it's the same adapter I use at work on modern hemi engines. I know this won't help unless u happe to own a vehicle with a hemi in it or you could look up what size fits a 2oo6 charger with a 5.7 hemi. Sometimes automotive specs are easier to find. Hope your results were better than my first compression test on my banshee I have only owned a week. Good luck Quote
