94Mike Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Wait you rode it till it had no more gas in it?... I do not think that is good.... I would of just rode it till i can drain a little out, running the carbs dry while its running is not good. Well depending on where you store it i just put a bag over my filters (like a plastic bag) and make sure it is tight and the air is out (excess bag i just stuff between the filters) I do not know if it is good for it or not but it works for me I live where dirt and dust gets everywhere so doing this saves me from cleaning my filters everytime i want to ride it... 94Mike Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 I'm not talking about cleaning the filters. I mean cleaning the carburators. I didn't tell you how to clean the filters, i said how to prevent them from getting dirty. Im assuming you have pods and im assuming the carbs can get dirty from the pods. Im not sure what carbs you have but if it possible for dirt to flow up the overflow tubes into the bowl then i would just tape the ends off.. I never had an issue with getting carbs dirty from storing them over long periods of time. But im just trying to help out . Quote
Larry's Shee Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Open bowl drains and drain the last little bit out. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Open bowl drains and drain the last little bit out. Larry has got it right.....to rid your carbs of fuel....just shut the gas line off (or drain tank first) then open the bowl drains on your carbs.....this will get out all that is needed for storage. But running your carbs out of fuel is a bad thing to do....it dns your bike out of fuel along with running it out of lubrication. And 2strokes have a tendency to "free-rev" or "run-away" which is caused by the lean condition.....so basically it will rev itself up while its also running out of lube. And bike or woman.....you don't wanna run out of lube while she's speeding up...... Quote
