vifferman Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 (edited) So I was loading the white bike in my truck without using the ramp and as soon as it was vertical trans fluid started pouring from the rear vent tube. I don't remember this happening with either of my other 2 Banshees. I searched already and only found info on pressure in the trans case but it doesn't leak unless it's vertical. My fluid level is good, low now that some leaked out. The motor was just completely rebuilt, the bottom by a local shop and the top by me. Any ideas? Edited July 25, 2011 by vifferman Quote
ban565 Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Do you have the reserve bottle still connected? If it is not than the oil will flow out the the hole on top of the upper case when verticle. Like to get to tucson this winter. My daughter lives there. Quote

I've never seen one for the tranny. PM me when you come to Tucson and we'll go riding. I have two Banshees so you won't have to bring yours. Quote
ban565 Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 (edited) I just looked at my banshee and the vent hose ties into the hose coming the water pump area than it goes under the tank. If your hose is going to the back of your banshee it will still leak out the hose when verticle. thanks for the offer to ride. Edited July 25, 2011 by ban565 Quote
vifferman Posted July 25, 2011 Author Report Posted July 25, 2011 the tube that is leaking comes directly out of the back of the trans, nothing else connects to it. It is definitely trans fluid and not coolant Quote
ban565 Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Sorry I did not state that it will be trans fluid. The hose you are looking is some kind vent for the trans. If it was like a stock set up the hoses would keep it from leaking. My cousins does the same thing because he has his vent running down the swingarm. If I make to Tucson I will flying in. Hope I made clearer this time. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 back of trans and vent from waterpump covr Tee together then run up to steering stem then run down a bit Quote
Jereme6655 Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Larry is correct.....the trans vent T's together with the clutch vent....usually above the cylinderes.....then from there its usually routed all the way up to the steering stem. may want to check to see ifyours just popped off. if its didn't pop off then someone shortened your vent tube and that could be why your pouring fluid out when you lift your front end... vifferman Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 Thanks to everone that replied. Upon further inspection I discovered that the rear vent tube from the transmission does not connect to anything else and drops down right behing the trans. Motor tilts back, fluid flows out vent tube. Sometime later this week I'll be adjusting/replacing the tube. Let ya know how it goes. Quote
