Irishchris Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Im really thinking about a 421 stroker kit for my banshee. Just wondering how tough the install would be. Im a boat mechanic by trade and have all the tools I would need I just never tore into a little two stroke before. I figured by the time I ship out the motor and pay someone to install it, I would be in it 500 to pay someone to do it and it would take about a month. The only thing I was really worried about is matching the cases and installing the crank. My engine runs fine now just ready for an upgrade. Quote
Loc Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 It is truely an easy install. If you can work on a boat motor then you will have no problem. It took me about a day to tear it down and a day to put it back together. A clymers manuel is a huge help. I would do it again before paying to have it done. Check with the site sponsors and they may be able to help you for pretty cheap. If you do jump into it and need some help let me know. You will love the 421 Cub it really rips. Quote

Yeah I thought plus with an extra 500 I can afford if I run into any issues. I was thinking about the athena kit that wicked has. I already have a cool head I can reuse, just need to get new domes. But Im going to call around to other sponsers and see what they suggest. thanks Quote

Jereme6655 Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 2 tools you will still need to buy......a flywheel puller (if you try to use a jaw style puller it will bend the flywheel and make the flywheel worthless) and also the motion pro clutch-basket tool makes life very easy...both together total about $30. Loc Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Also buy a dead blow hammer. It will make life easy when separating the cases. Quote

Jereme6655 Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Thanks, I already have the cylmers and was reading through it, dosnt seem too tough. And im getting the tools. if you know how to pull an outdrive off of a boat then i have faith that you can tear apart a 2stroke and rebuild it......a 2stroke is the simplest motor out there......shit ive seen people tear them down and fix a problem and reassemble them in a night at a campground......stupid easy.
