If you do woods riding, give kevin herr a call and get his woods port. You would love the power difference. It will be a little more expensive, but the biggest power difference, and would change your power-band to suite your riding style. Kevin can also hook you up with any of the other bolt-ons you would need to make it a complete package. The timing plate and cool head will give you a good low-end boost and wouldn't cost as much as the porting. - Jared Quote
mikechief Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 if you want cheap just shave your stock head go here http://www.sacoriver.net/~red/squish.html shave your head to make your squish .040" . Napa shaved mine for $35 . i ended up buyin a cool head tho and throwing that 35 bucks away you can carve out your stock stator plate to advance your timing http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=137560&pid=1230600&st=0entry1230600 Quote
bigblockbanshee Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 (edited) BigRed350x nailed it with the porting by Herr Jugs. That's the only way you're gonna be able to "take off fast" and still have good top end. Mikechief's suggestion for more compression was great too. I've got pretty much a stock engine setup with T5s and running my airbox lid with snorkel and I can putt-putt around with the 4-pokes (sport and big 4x4 utility) all day long and still have plenty of top end for me. You've gotta realize though, in most situations there's no reason to have killer top end power when riding trails. Those two mix about as good as oil and water. At least on the trails I ride, most of the time I never, ever get past 3rd gear. I'm running a 13-41 with a 20" rear tire and so far I have no gripes whatsoever about my setup. It has all of the bottom and top end that I'll ever need for what I built it for and what I ride. Edited May 16, 2011 by bigblockbanshee Quote
Jereme6655 Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 bigblock hit it right on the head......if you truly are using it as a "woods trail" type of banshee then you will never see 6th gear on the trails....maybe on an occasional dirt road but a super strong top end in the woods is not needed. its all give or take (mostly) for banshee mods....alot of times if you want top end you will lose a little bottom end......if you want bottom alot of times you lose top. get a good suspension under it and you can run faster down the more technical trails...
