Dog86 Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 What causes a real High idle on startup. When I fire up my banshee it Idles real high to the point where I have to put it in gear and put the engine under a load. This only does it on a stone cold engine. The rest of the day it will fire up perfect and run just fine. I know it need some jetting tweeking but its not crazy off on the jetting as it has been the same for a few years and I have changed nothing. It is also boggy for the first few min but when it warms up it runs perfect. I am just wondering where to start at any help would be nice. Thanks Quote
volcrano Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 sounds lean on bottom circuit.richen the pilot air screws 1/4 at a time inward, equally to both carbs until problem subsides.go 1/4 turn in,then wait about 10 seconds for motor to catch up to changes and ride.repeat as necessary.look up the jetting sticky to see if u nees to go to a different pilot.prob. not, esp. if u are stock.any mods u have done?that will also help diagnosis, but i would richen air screws. Dog86 Posted May 3, 2011 Author Report Posted May 3, 2011 The banshee has a cool head with 21cc domes with FMF pipes and just a slight overbore but nothing major. Also a advanced timing plate adj, to about 4 degrees advance. I'll try the air screw and check it out. It has been awhile since I have done anything to her but it has always done this a little bit. I'll give that a shot first Thanks Quote
Larry's Shee Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 might also clean carbs paying close attention to pilot circuit & jet Quote
