I Use alot of break cleaner it kinda sucks.

 

Im wondering what is the best type of cleaner to use prior to assembling your motor? Im talkin from a complete teardown.

I use a parts washer then hot soapy water,then ascetone on the glued surfaces with white rag for grease test,safety clean in the washer

Carb cleaner. Lots of rags.

Carb cleaner for simple, quick cleaning. Mineral spirits for slow breakdown of the tough stuff. I never use brake cleaner, that stuff will wreak havoc on your body really quick and you won't even know it. Even the mineral spirits will get you high in no time, don't ask how I know...

diesel in the parts washer for greasy shit, then brake clean to rinse quickly or if you have some time use hot water and dish soap.

I use parts cleaner too, But some shit just dont wanna come off. The shee I just bought was in Great shape bone stock but never washed its a 2000

depends on what i am trying to clean.

brake cleaner works great as isn't that much if you buy the store brand cheap shit, still works great

 

in the parts cleaner tub, use kerosene, works good and the filter on the pump helps keep it somewhat clean.

 

then there is the heavy duty shit, like gun cleaner, lacquer thinner and other things, that is very costly and only used to clean certain things.

Yeah. Kerosene in the washer is the ticket. Then something stouter for hard to clean stuff and smooth surfaces for gaskets and so on.
