I live in northern MN and it's gettin time to rebuild the Shee. 6 years on the motor, but it's finally getting low on compression. runnin about 93 in both cylinders. I'd like to have a fresh rebuild for the years to come.

Here's my biggest issue. I want a 4mm, but I also want reliability. When I ride, i go far. It's typically pretty normal to go 100+ miles or so in a trip. Carrying around oil for 1 gallon mixes has been workin for me for a while. lol. If something happens to this thing while in out, i'm stuck miles out, so I don't want someone that's going to throw this together and do a half assed job. I don't want to have a local shop do this because of their rep. but I also don't want to do it myself. Garage has a 67 toronado in it right now and I don't have anywhere near the space I need.

If I do go the route of the 4mm, am I going to see any kind of reliability issues? Do people have any problems with them? I'd choose reliability over performance in a heartbeat, but i'm no longer afraid of the banshee, and I think that fear I've gotten from it has always kept me alive lol. Has anyone had a 4mm last a year or two? I know it's probably rare for a banshee to still be running 6 years later after but after this long you start expecting it to never quit. Long story short, I need my motor rebuilt, and I need to be able to count on it. Where's the best place to send it?

Also, carbs need to be tuned/rebuilt, to make it more convenient I'd like to send them with as well.

nice bike buddy. Im going to suggest Jeff from FAST (farmandsandtoys.com)......but there are other site sponsors on here that i hear are just as good (kevin at HJR). As far as 6 years for a banshee without a rebuild......shit.....mines a 2001 and i just had my first rebuild this winter. haha... and as far as 4mm goes versus a stock bore.......if you do the "correct" 4mm build (ie getting it ported for the 4mm and not using a spacer plate and also making sure your using a 115 long rod crank) then it will be just as reliable as what your running right now. Give jeff a call and he will give you his thoughts about it and he can also help you if you want to add other parts or not. He's a super easy guy to talk to and will bend over backwards to make sure your stuff is running correctly

What kind of rep does fast and herr jugs have? Any people have any problems with any of the work they've done for them?

Never heard a single bad thing.

Fast, Herr, Wildcard, M&M, Redline....good stuff either way.

Kevin at Herr Jugs racing! Give kevin a call. He will get you taken care of, and you won't have any problems with the reliability. Give him a call. His number is in my signature.

Okay I think I will. I'll give em a shout sometime tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. I was hoping for a quick turn around as well, but i didn't want someone to half ass my motor. I need someone who enjoys doing what they do and someone who's passionate about the kind of work they do; not just someone in it for the money I guess.

Yep worth every penny i'm going to be running his dune port, cool head 19cc domes, stock carbs, and shearers should move pretty good when hes done.
