Glenyboy Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 I've just removed the stock control switch for an aftermarket one as I need to fit a horn, indicators etc for making it road legal, my banshee is a 2002 model and has seven different wires going into it this is what I've made out from the diagram on the electrical thread: Green. Low beam Yellow. High beam Black. Ground Black/white. Cut off switch There are 3 other wires but im not sure what they do or go to Blue Red Red/yellow Does anyone know what these wires are and what I need to connect them to? Also if I connect the black/White wire to the kill button on my new control will it work as a kill switch? Thanks for any input, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on anything Quote

Thanks for any input, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on anything If your new kill switch is a toggle switch it should work. If its a button that you push and hold, it must be normally open (I think) for it to work. In other words, it closes the circuit grounds the black/white wire when you push the button and kills the ignition. SOmeone will correct me if I have it backwards. As for the other wires, I think it tells you in the electrical FAQ. Quote
Glenyboy Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 The kill switch is like a small lever on top of the new unit I'm not sue how to tell if it's an open or closed circuit, I have read the electrical f@q and can't see what the other wires are, I can't read the diagram too well, I've read past threads on the search section and have come accross mixed results of what the wires are and do, and what to splice them with. I would post a link to the unit I bought it off of eBay but I've only got an iPhone and I'm not sure how too. Quote
J-Madd Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 If its a lever it will work. One way will be closed, the other way will be open. You'll just have to figure out which way is on or off. The blue wire is for the voltage regulator (goes to the silverbox mounted on grab bar) that keeps the bulbs from blowing when you rev it up. Not sure what the others are for without looking at diagram Quote
Glenyboy Posted March 31, 2011 Author Report Posted March 31, 2011 Does anybody else know what the other wires are? Thanks Quote
tedd1 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Find a wiring diagram for the bike your new switch came off of. Or, get an ohm meter and start switching switches... Quote
Glenyboy Posted March 31, 2011 Author Report Posted March 31, 2011 I haven't a diagram but a list of the wires and what they do as this is a universal switch gear, Black. Earth Blue. Light input Red. Rear light/pilot and instrumental bulbs Yellow. Low beam Green High beam Blue/White. Ignition cut out Pink. Horn Brown/White. Indicator supply wire Brown. Left indicator Dark green. Right indicator I was going to run: New unit. Old wiring Black. To. Black bikes earth Blue and brown/White To Blue power wire from reg Blue/White. To. Black/White on/off switch Just wondered what the other original wires done, so I could use the bikes lighting wires instead of coming out of the new unit and add even more wires to the bike These wires being the red and red/yellow Thanks Quote
Glenyboy Posted March 31, 2011 Author Report Posted March 31, 2011 I've taken apart the standard switch and have found that Blue and red/yellow wires are on the off position Red and green wires are on the low position Yellow wire is on the high position Quote
Glenyboy Posted March 31, 2011 Author Report Posted March 31, 2011 (edited) I've taken apart the standard switch and have found that Blue and red/yellow wires are on the off position Red and green wires are on the low position Yellow wire is on the high position So should I run the blue and red/ yellow wires to the light input The red and green wires to the low beam And the yellow to the high beam Edited March 31, 2011 by Glenyboy Quote
tedd1 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Stock Banshee harness: Yellow/Red is 12 volts into switch from regulator Blue goes back to tail light from switch (this wire would be "hot" any time light switch is on) Green goes out to low beam from switch Yellow goes out to high beam from switch Quote
