also it has happened (not everytime to every crank...just seems to be more random than anything) that since the cranks are pressed together crankshafts they can seperate and wind up digging the side of the crank into your cases...

a stock crank should be no more than .002 out of true, most i take out are around .003-.004,.Remember this is the heart of your motor is the crank any vibration there will harmonize through the whole motor.Another important thing to be checked is center bearing runout this is where most banshee crank noise will come from and not everyone pays attention to it.If your adding compression a weld is a must plus a tz or max load bearing should be added IMO.Remember if its out allready

do it once do it rite

What is a Trued and welded crank (pros and cons)

There are no cons to it.

Its really the luck of the draw. If your crank isn't welding you always stand a chance of it coming apart. I've seen banshee's with only pipes and filters have cranks fail, but then I've seen well built banshee's not have an issue...so its all luck and taking the chance IMO.

First thing I did when I bought my 06 was had Wildcard Racing tear it down and inspect the crank, true and weld it....along with there porting of course :headbang:

The hotrod 4mm crank is welded but not sufficiently it needs more or it will still come apart. Checking a crank for true is getting the crank to run straight from the pto shaft to the flywheel shaft. Basically you dont want any wobble in the crank when its spinning on the bearings. This is a different process than balancing, balancing will actually have to be done with the complete rotating assembly. Welding the outside pin keeps the crank from separating or spinning out of true.

if you plan on welding on your crank REMEBER.. weld half moons ,,,let it cool then flip it and do half moon on the other side exc,,, the last thing you want to do is warp a brand new crank,,
