slag_350300 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Hey, Ive searched online and found several different types of cylinders for the banshee. The serval, cheetah cub, wampus, etc. Can anyone please explain the difference between them all? Im planning a budget to build a 421 +4 banshee motor and am not really sure where to start on which cylinder kit to look into. Thanks a bunch Quote

Thanks a bunch Search a little more man, they are all covered pretty thoroughly. On a side note, if you're on a budget then scratch the wampus off of your list. No sense on paying more for a cylinder with identical port timings to the cub or serval. Quote
252wheelieking Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) 4mil Serval......it's an all purpose engine.....That's what im going with on my next rebuild...... Edited March 9, 2011 by 252wheelieking Quote
06specialedition Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 4mil Serval......it's an all purpose engine.....That's what im going with on my next rebuild...... X2. That's my next motor as well. Hit up a site sponsor on here, I wouldn't hesitate to order all your stuff from one of them. Quote
SonOfSand Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 If you are building a 421 on a budget then there is only two cylinders to consider really. 1. Cheetah Cub, these are drag cylinders, make the most power, but more difficult to ride in an all purpose application. 2. Serval Cub, these are an all purpose cylinder, with great power at most rpm. I would recommend the serval unless you are only drag racing. Quote
Fastassbanshee96 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Serval all day. Just had one built now waiting to finish the frame to drop it in. Quote
#1BADASSBANSHEE Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 I MAY BE TO LATE BUT HERE IS WHAT IVE FOUND OUT. GO WITH THE CHEETAH BEST ALL AROUND MOTOR 4MILL 421 IS A GREAT RELIABLE MOTOR. THE SERVAL IS A WAMPUS! IT IS A STOCK LOOK ALIKE SO YOU CAN MAKE A SLEEPER. A CHEETAH IS A POWER VALVE CYLINDER. GIVES YOU A MORE ROUNDED POWER CURVE AND OPTION OF A BIGGER BORE BUT NEEDS CUSTOM HEAD ALSO HAS BIGGER HONDA READ CAGES . BUT MORE PEOPLE RUN A CUB. CAUSE IT IS VERY RELIABLE. AND YOU CAN USE STANDARD READ CAGES AND HEAD. Quote

The serval is an all around cylinder with modified port timings to allow the power to be a very usable all round power motor. the WOMPUS is designed for street racers.....yes it DOES have different port timings than stock and is meant to be a power motor.....but it looks REALLY close to stock....if you werent within 5 ft of it and knew what you were looking for, youd miss it. The serval and wompus are both mono-blocks.......but they are definately not the same.... Quote

camatv Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 the cub is the budget friendly cheeta... if there is no budget really the cheeta is a much better choice.. all the low end of a serval and the top end of a cub with NO head issues or other issues related to that casting.. anyway you look at it tho the CP cylinders are a VERY great choice!! i wouldn't rule out the twister small blocks they are just not as polular.. i think twista has a small bore PV cylinder but i am sure it takes some work to get to run really good. might call them just to have all your options cover'd how much is your "budget"? and what do you have already will be really what you need to look at...
