volcrano Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 it was a little wet but when it dried wouldnt i have spark how do i check pickup gap on the stator? and what should it be at pick up gap is easily set with credit card.set one of the 2 humps on the flywheel over the pick up,loosen pickup, stick credit card btween hump and pickup, push pickup into credit card and tighten.also.common prob,un-plug the tors brain box,on frame on left side, underneath by upper left pipe mount.unplug, grab a good plug, stick it in the cap, ground it to head and turn over to check for spark.take both plugs out of cyls so it can be kicked by hand.hope this helps. 700vflash Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Is the flywheel nut torqued down, sometimes they will loosen up? Quote
jtbhq420 Posted March 18, 2011 Author Report Posted March 18, 2011 Is the flywheel nut torqued down, sometimes they will loosen up? that is completly tight Quote
700vflash Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Are you sure it is a spark issue, not fuel, air, or compression issue? Quote
jtbhq420 Posted March 18, 2011 Author Report Posted March 18, 2011 pretty sure compression feels normal and even if i lost fuel air or compression wouldnt i have spark Quote
WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 It'll sound simple, but sometimes the problem is simple.....Check to make sure that your key is working (If you still have a functioning key) We had a spark issue once and after checking EVERYTHING else, we discovered that even though the key was "On" it wasn't really working. Wish we had found it sooner. Lost a whole day of riding over that one. I also had the kill switch on a Honda 400EX do the same thing. I was stuck in the Kill mode. You might check that too. Make sure the ON for the ignition switch still works. NOTE: Yes you will need some type of voltage tester or Ohm meter to check this. Hope it's not anything else, cause this is the cheap fix. Anything else is going to cost some green. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) Muddy water leaves the dirt after it dries wether in plug connections or switches. Trim plug wires 1/4 inch reinstall boots. BTW, while you have connections apart put die-electric grease in them. Edited March 19, 2011 by Larry's Shee Quote
