bigblockbanshee Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 I'm sure it's been discussed to death but can someone point me in the correct direction for proper guards/skids for a set of +2+1 A-arms? Thanks in advance, Chris. Quote
midlifecrisis Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 If it has, I missed it too. Ive been looking on all the popular sites like Dennis Kirk, Rocky Mountain etc....all to no avail? Quote
bansheesandrider Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 You will probably have to contact whoever made your A arms as everbody's aftermarket arms are a little different from the next guy's. The ones you see online/ in catalogs are made to fit stock arms which are all to Yamaha spec, everybody's extended or long travel arms are made to the arm builder's spec, not Yamaha's. Quote
Michael Jackson Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 the only +2+1 arms i could find with available skidplates were armadillo (sold in rocky mountain) , so i bought em. the skid plates are built to the exact profile of the lower arm though, so they arnt gona fit any others the only real option is to hick rick some other +2 a-arm skids on your arms, which wont be easy, because there arnt any +2 banshee arm skids to choose from, you might have to hack up some standard length a arm skids to make it work if you really want em Quote
bigblockbanshee Posted March 5, 2011 Author Report Posted March 5, 2011 Sorry fellas, just now getting a chance to get back on here. It's kinda relieving that there aren't any out in the market to speak of so it encourages me to have my own made. Right now I'm in the middle of a drafting program where I'm specializing in mechanical drafting so I think I'm gonna try to create a rough sketch and some CAD drawings for some custom-fabbed guards for my A-arms. There is a welding class just across campus so I should be able to get them done fairly quick once I get some measurements and a good drawing done. I'll update the thread once I get some more info. As for now here is a pic of my current A-arms, I have no idea who makes them. I bought them as used ASRs but I have since emailed them with pictures and they won't claim them so who knows... That's the best pic I could get with them unfortunately already being installed. Quote

bigblockbanshee Posted March 7, 2011 Author Report Posted March 7, 2011 Lol not exactly what I wanted to hear although I do agree. I've compared many different brands and have never seen any like these. To be totally honest I don't know 100% that these even came off of a Banshee. That's what I bought them as but when I went to put them on the lowers were waaaayyyy off. I had to put new bushings in them as the ones that came out of it had an I.D. that was about .100" more than stock. I also had to heat the rear mount on the lowers and bend them to where they would work in my frame mounts. Quote
