I need to replace the rear bearing carrier on the wife's Banshee. Still using a stock swing arm and plan on buying a carrier with a zerk fitting.

Which is better and what is the difference (performance wise) between the tappered bearing and the twin row bearing type carriers.

Thanks.

I have the Banshee Rad twin row carrier. The grease zerk is right in the middle and the carrier is heavy duty billet.

i would consider the tapered bearing carrier superior as that is what is used in wheel bearings on cars/trucks/trailers.

just my 2cents though.

that is true on older cars, but now a days newre cars, trucks use sealed roller ball bearings (hub bearing assembly)as found on a twin ball carrier. just sayin. besides i own a twin carrier.lol. both would be nice though. i personally like the idea of having an extra set of bearings in my carrier.jmo

the failure rate is alot higher than the 'old' stuff too. this cannot be argued. stuff on new cars is all throw away. cheap chinese made junk. :flush:

i looked up the parts needed to put tapered bearings in the stock carrier awhile back but the list is long since lost. parts were not bad at maybe $40 for everything but i never tried converting one to see that all had to be done. at first glance it was pretty simple to do.

You have a contradiction of terms "sealed roller ball bearings". They are either roller or ball, not both. New vehicals are designed for cost and ease of assembly, not how good or how long it lasts.

Think of the tapered roller as putting a TZ bearing for your axle. I presume twin is two rollers per side, better than stock, still not as good as roller.

Two bearings same size the roller will have a greater bearing surface area thus greater load capacity and life.

JMHO, your results may and will vary.:jesterlaugh:
