lean condition would cause that i had the same problem thought i had an airleak change your jets first and clean the carbs while you got them off put a 270 - 280 to start and see what happens if it is the same problem check your boots reeds ect but too lean and it acts like an air leak

Basically is the lean codition heats the plug to where it's hot enough to ignite the fuel without a spark, like a glow plug in a rc car. Might as well clean carbs good and check fuel petcock and screen, clean tank. Pay close attention to carb boots when testing, where crossover/ boost bottle nipples are.

banghead:cheers:

Thanks for the info, have new boots, jets, choke and idle kit on the way, the needles look brand new, as well as the airscrews. Doing the leak down tomorrow just to be sure.

Bigger main and pilot. I'm thinking i've got a 310 main in mine right now and a 27.5 pilot. That's my spring/fall jetting. For hotter, I go just a touch leaner and winter, a touch richer.

I have three different size main jets coming and a pair of 27.5 pilots. Should have it dialed in this weekend, thanks.
