  1. The stator was replaced in the hope it would fix the problem. It was doing the same thing before the stator was replaced. But i do have another to try. Will also trace all the wires back for the e-brake and get rid of those.
  2. Took a look at the Banshee yesterday and the switch and wiring have already been pulled from the parking brake perch. Did not look into the wiring in the harness could that wire be shorting out ?
  3. Will do. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks !
  4. So do i need to pull the entire parking brake set up off or can i just disconnect all the electrical connections?
  5. Yeah Tors are gone. What about the parking brake it is still on there? The plugs have good color i really dont think it is fuel related ? When it acts up there is no power. You can ride it as long as you dont give it anymore than a quarter throttle, when you do it cuts out ,pops, backfires and has no power?? Then a few minutes later it runs like a raped ape all the power in the world.
  6. ,Have a 2001 banshee, toomey t-5s cool head, tors removed. Super clean well cared for quad, has a problem cutting out mid to top end. It is intermittent ,one minute it is ripping across the dunes the next it wont run over a quarter throttle. I have replaced the stator (new Ricky stator) new coil (yamaha) ,new plugs, new plug caps, new aftermarket cdi no change. It pops and backfires at half to full throttle, shut it down wait a few minutes and sometimes it runs fine and sometimes it doesnt ??? Does not seem fuel related to me it is so intermittent. Any ideas?
  7. Ok , here is where I'm at. Installed idle kit, new choke, new carb to air box boots, cleaned tank screens and flushed tank. Carb set up is 300 mains, 27.5 pilot, needle in the fourth clip, air screws 1 1/2 turns out . IT RUNS AWESOME !! Thanks for all the input brothers, if your in my neck of the woods brews are on me!! Now just need the weather to cooperate to get this thing out on the sand. In the meantime dressing it up a bit , starting with a custom seat cover from vegas jeff !!Great site glad to be a member , thanks again for all the help !!
  8. Yeah, just checking to be sure it was only the jetting.
  9. Leak down complete held 6 lbs for 10 minutes without even a twitch in the needle. Waiting for carb parts to get it back together.
  10. I have three different size main jets coming and a pair of 27.5 pilots. Should have it dialed in this weekend, thanks.
  11. Thanks, parts are on there way, hope to have it dialed in this weekend.
  12. Thanks for the info, have new boots, jets, choke and idle kit on the way, the needles look brand new, as well as the airscrews. Doing the leak down tomorrow just to be sure.
  13. Yeah the runaway is my major concern, I assumed the jetting was lean just by the info i found on this site. Was not sure if the lean jetting would cause the runaway, but by the info i am getting back it seems i am way too lean. So just to be sure of what i have will do the leak down test and pick up some jets and get this thing dialed in. Thanks!
  14. Have not, buying the parts today to build the leak down tester. Will check screens. Thanks!!
  15. Ok, lets start with what i know. Just bought a 2000 banshee, told it was rebuilt from the crank up. Has pro circuit pipes with toomey silencers. No air box, single K&N filter with skin. Stock carbs, Tors removed, has new caps and cable (no idle kit ) I have one ordered , took the carbs off to clean has new parts, was pretty dirty though. Has 240 mains and 25 pilots, did not check the needle. Did compression test have 148 both sides. did the soapy water while running did not see anything. What is happening is it wont idle unless i pull the choke out, then if i give it throttle it bogs down like no fuel, if i rev the throttle fast i can get it through the bog then it revs to red line and i have to put it in gear and kill it ?? I actually have ridden it a little when i test rode it and once you get it past the bogging it goes like hell, but as soon as you get it back to idle and try to go again it dies like its running out of fuel? Before i bought it took it to a mechanic he said its running lean and thought if i replaced the old fuel and clean up the carbs it would be fine. Not so much, i got it to idle a little better, but a soon as its to operating temperature and its sitting and you rev it up it redlines and you have to kill it in gear. Did the soapy water when it was warm and running, assuming i am looking for bubbles, i did not see anything? any help any info would be greatly appreciated. If i now what the problem is i can surely fix it, but right now i am not sure what is causing my problem. Thanks.
