willnegus Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 can someone tell me if i have quite a bit lower compression on one cylinder if it will make my engine try and run wide open after i give it a rev, i did a leak down test and passed. slides ar'nt sticking, this is what i did, i rebuilt the top end and took it for a rip for about an hour, then realized that i overheated it bigtime and melted a piston, because i ripped the oring that is inside the clutch cover, it put all the coolant inside the tranny and nothing in my engine. so i tore the cylinders off honed out the bad one switched the good piston over in the other hole that i just honed, and took the old piston that had lower compression, put it in the other hole wich was the side that did'nt blow up. stumped and when the engine is screaming out of controll the slides are in the idle position Quote
bansheesrtoys Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 is the choke tube on that goes between the carbs. Quote
gotta_goatsfast Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 So, you took a melted piston and put it in a good cylinder? And then you took the good piston and switched that to a blown cylinder? You cannot just hone one cylinder and use melted pistons... you need to have both jugs machined again and start over with new pistons and rings. Quote
STINKYDELUXE Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 disconnect your hoses to make sure your fuel flows if it is not clogged check your pilot jets to make sure they don't have crude in them. I had the same issue last year I had my banshee idling to warm up and it reved up to about 8000 RPM. Quote

Larry's Shee Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Should have left the good piston alone as it already has started to wear in on that cylinder . Then do whatever to the other cyl. You might have an air leak.. JMHO, your results may vary. Quote
