i have a 96shee, procircut exhaust, toomey clamp-on uni filter, bored .40 0ver, +5 timing, 4millstroker, mildly ported cylinders, prodesign coolhead with 18cc domes, nology profire coil, and aftermarket cdi. but i still have stock reeds and was wondering if the vf'3 would be worth the 230 price tag?

You could get by with a set of replacement boyesens that would be better than stock for throttle response. All you are really gaining is throttle response with any set in my experience. And you can port your stock reed cages too to help out. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

I have VF3's on my cheetah but needed reeds and cages for the giant intake anyway so I can't compare them to a stock set.

It is gonna depend on what your porting is done to. It will make a difference no matter what, but not as much as a bolt on carbon reed with the pro circuits. The vf3's are for flow at max rpm, and you will never see the revs to fully utilize them with the pro circuits, and a mx or trail port job.

i ran stock cages for years and they get tired and floppy and i went to boyseen reeds they help a little . vf3 cost twick a s much but you can get twice or tripple the life out of them but they can crack if you run a bad engine them . just run what you got if your engine is not bored more than you got you cant get anything better . stock cages get worn out and the dont work after many hours so i just tosed mine in the trash they was un rebuildiball . i have a set of stocler and vf1 reed kits for sale cheap if you want them but they have high hours one them so i wounld rather give them to you for free if you want them ill never use them . but the vfs1 reeds worked but they need new reeds cind of cracked from being under water in a lake . later bro talk to yo later

i need some asprin

did i understand your giving some vf 1's away with bad reeds?

thats the worst thing about vforce reeds the reeds break on them and its going to cost about 130 bucks or so to replace them. and at 190 for new ones i just sell my old ones for usually around 120 + and buy NEW cages..

i really like the boyesen rad valves with massive port work done to them. after i spent a few hours with them they made awesome power all over and would rev very high and hard.

stock cages massaged a lot with carbon 2 stage reeds work well also. but thats going to set you back at least 100 bucks for the carbon reeds.

I like the VF3s... I switched from Stock Cages with Carbon reeds to them and my bike felt more crisp on the seat of the pants dyno.. I would recommend them to anyone.

X2. I've always ran VF3's and really liked them.

If you don't want to spend $250 on VF3's...Wildcard Racing does a killer job on porting the stock reed cages, and I've heard good gains from that as well :bolt:

Save money and do it once. Buy the VF3's and never look back. Excellent response and good to 120 HP if you ever upgrade to Cubs whatever down the road. Earlier VF's are good performers but tend to let loose of screws. Plus if your porting is out of sync with your pipes, they can get warped from the added heat. Just keep an eye on your reeds through occasional inspection. Lower compression engines tend to raise exhaust temps and turn more RPM. Therefore the reeds take a beating. Although the natural frequency of standard VF reed petals is above 10K, they don't like much more RPM than 9500RPM.They tend to crack on the edges with excessive RPM..Jim
