Damnit Bob Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 So the lake is frozen solid... but theres no snow to ride my sled. So I figure ill stud these extra tires I have for some lake riding fun... should I use the sharpe top screws? Or snowmobile studs? I would like to still be able to drift and powerslide a little... is there a pattern I should use for inserting them? Quote
Pasi S. Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I have these kind of studs in my tires WT20ATVJÄÄ(Maxxis Razr2) 250 in each rear and if I remember right 150 in fronts. http://www.wipertec.fi/atvnastat.php and they look like these. front (not mine but I have the same) http://shop.teamlaine.fi/images/large/etunastarengas.jpg rear (not mine but I have the same) http://shop.teamlaine.fi/images/large/takacrossinastarengas.jpg You can do them by your self if you have the tools. Hope this helps. -Pasi S. Quote
robert.b.west Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 lots of people use kold kutter screws. They hook great. I can easily wheelie on the ice. Probably need 1000-1250 at least 5/8" long. http://www.koldkutter.com/catalog/index.php Quote
Damnit Bob Posted January 6, 2011 Author Report Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks for the info guys. I would like to do some drifting and that stuff, I will have to ride on my driveway for like 20ft then down/up a really steep grass/mud/snow hill. Pasi, do you need special tools to install those style studs? Quote
Pasi S. Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Yes you will need some tools to do it. I can´t translate all of it so... You will need this http://www.kuinoma.fi/files/Gern_komp..jpg to use this "stud gun" or what ever you call it LOL! Before all of this you need to drill good holes for those kind of studs. ...and you need use Loctite 480 glue I don´t know hard to translate HEH! -Pasi S. Quote
crustydemon Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 I like kold kutters. Snowmobile spikes will mess you up BAD if you get caught in the rear wheels, and I mean really bad. You might just be able to go to your local tire shop and have those other kind put in, there just regular snow tire studs. Quote

I use snowmobile studs in the back 65 each tire, best grip you will get kinda hard to turn tho. I Have never got wrapped up in them, I like to keep my feet on the pegs. Quote

If you are talking about those 20mm long Wipertec studs, then they are not regular snow tire studs. Regular "stud gun"(?) (in most of the cases) can´t accept these studs. They are too long to go through. -Pasi S. Quote
