Gas tank removal

Hey i have a 97 banshee i need to take off the gas tank to clean out all stuff thats in it. I took off the plastics in the front and undid all the bolts that hold it in, but i cant get it out. No matter what way i pull on it, it always seems the frame is the in the way. Is there a bolt i missed? I took out 4, or is there a certain way you have to pull it out?

The frame is more than likely bent. The U shaped portion that holds the stem and radiator gets bent back easily when the bike is rolled. You can bend it back into shape but it should be gusseted. That is usually what keeps the gas tank from comming out.

put a hammer handle under the back of the tank, and pry it out, it should pop out, bent steering loop or not.

its a tight fit.......but it will come out....if it wont come out then your bikes got a bent steering neck....BUT it will come out.....gotta pop the back up really hard to get it to come out.

gota take the gas line off too

 

 

but yeh, they just dont fall out, its all in the wiggle
