hey guys i picked up my friends blaster to borrow cause im snowed in down here, someone put sugar in the tanks a while back and i told him id fix it so i cleaned the tank and carb real good and when i went to kick it the first time it was seized up from the sugar cause it was sittin... any tricks on how to get that piston unstuck?! like putting something through the sparkplug hole? maybe wd40 or something? help me out! thanks guys

The first step would be to knock the person who put sugar in the tank over the head with a hammer. Then, while he is laying there, take his wallet so that it can be fixed and not just "patched." More than likely something is going to need replaced if it is stuck.

I never thought something like that would have worked either, but as a teenager, I poured light weight oil into the plug hole on the family lawnmower, and it freed it up, big difference though.

There is a pretty big difference between a fairly high strung 2 stroke versus a low to mid rpm 4 stroke that is at constant rpm, so soaking it in oil may not cut it. A blaster is air cooled and it is two stroke, so it is one of the simplest motors to tear apart possible. If it was me I would take the exhaust, head, and cylinder off so that you can check to see what the bore and rings look like. If sugar was in the tank and caused the motor to seize, it would be a good idea to get the crank washed out while the topend is off (use mixed gas). Make sure that it rotates freely, when you are done. You may get away with a little bit of time, a set of rings, and a set of gaskets.

68 chevy do you think the 3 in 1 oil will work if i did that? and midlife so u think 3 in 1 should work? would it score the cylinder?!!

I wouldn't do it. It will probably free up but its putting a bandaid on something that needs stitches. Take the time to do it right, so take the top end off so you can check your bore, rings, and clean the crank up. For all we know, it could be the crank that is seized and not the piston.

As I said, I did it when I was younger, and only cause I didnt want my old man pissed at me. If it was me now, Id take it apart and see what the real issue is. As 68banshee said, its like bandaiding a bad wound. Get a manual and read up, and take it apart/reassemble it correctly.
