slomotion Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Hey guys, I need some help on this one because I have no idea what to do or where to start. I rebuilt the top end on my stock banshee and bored it 2 over. That is all that has ever been done to it. I bought it on its last leg and only rode it a few times before having to rebuild it and cannot honestly say whether or not it was doing this before the rebuild. Please help! Quote
CraigP Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 It has something to do with ur carbs or fuel/air ratio Quote
slomotion Posted December 22, 2010 Author Report Posted December 22, 2010 It has something to do with ur carbs or fuel/air ratio Where should I start? I did take the carbs out and soak them and clean them. I have done some reading and seen that you need to sync your carbs. I have never worked on something with two carbs so this is new to me. Could this be it and if so where could I find the best info on how to do it? Also, do I need to mess with the jets at all? They are stock as well. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 You can start by syncing carbs , back idle all the way off so slides bottom out. Then adjust cables so both slide move at same time, You can do it by eye or I prefer to use two fingers from same hand and feel them both rise at same time. Adjust idle. Is it totally stock? Pull one main jet and see what it is. Check for air leaks. If no leaks when riding as you get to point it bogs pull choke out halfway , if it runs better you need larger main jet. How cold was it when you tried it? Air temp? Quote

I'm thinking it needs a bigger main jet too. You might check and see what groove your needle clip is in too. You might need to move it toward the point of the needle one notch. This will help your mid range a bit. Quote
06specialedition Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Some carb adjustments and you'll be set. Make sure they are synced. Check your main jets and needle clip positions. If your having problems between 3/4 and wide open throttle, it is most likely a needle and or main jet. Whats your elevation? What are size mains are in there now? Quote

I am going to work on it this weekend now that the holidays are over. I am not sure of the main jet size so I will pull it and check. The elevation here is probably 500' as I am close to the coast. How do I sync the carbs with those TORS things on them? Also, do I need to adjust those big screws on the TORS and if so how? Again I appreciate all of the help from everyone. I am really trying to get in to working on my own bike but I have nobody to show me the basics. Quote
