Sup guys,

 

I need some opinions on what size of swing-arm to buy. I ride 100% dunes and never jump my shee. I dune alot and hillshot against 450's and other shee's on occasion.

 

Right now I'm pushing approximately 65HP. I don't want a +2. So it's at least between a +4 or +6.....What do you guys think? Also what kind of gearing do you guys run with a longer swinger? I know pretty much nothing about banshee suspension...so any help is great.

 

Here are most of my current mods:

 

Stock 350 with Aggressive Dune Port & Case Matched Porting Done By Wildcard Racing. Chrome Cpi Inframes, V-Force 3's, Duel Pingle Valve, +5 Timing, Welded Crank, Wildcard Noss Cool Head W/19cc Domes, K&N Filters W/ No Air Box, Tors Remove Kit, Skat Trak Paddles, Black Pro Taper Bars, Cascade Polished Billet Thumb Throttle, Cascade Stainless Side Case Bolts(both sides), Billet Brake Block Off, Custom Clutch Perch, Oversized Aluminum Boss Radiator, Aluminum Radiator Lines....

+4 will keep it rideable. Are you still running stock sprockets? If so, larger front / smaller rear will give you higher top speed. Opposite will give you a better take off but top out each gear faster. Steel front sprockets are cheap. Buy a 13 and 15 and see which one you like better.

Whats wrong with just running stock sprockets?

I'm runnning close to that hp number and I have the +4. You shouldn't have to change your gearing unless you are unhappy with what you have. I'm running 22x11x8 super light 10 paddles and I am running 14-46 gearing. I like the lower gearing, I can launch really well in second. I only ride in the sand and the tree shots in Oregon can be a little tight for the higher geaing.

+4 would work good for you.

 

The longer swingarm will reduce your traction, so your paddles will spin more easily. I run a +6 on my black bike and run 14x41 gearing with 21" 9-paddles at KP which has pretty dry fluffy sand. When I go to walden, which has wet hard sand I run 14x44 gearing with the same paddles.

Okay cool so a +4 sounds like a good size to get, I will probably get a ladder style. I've been really wanting a set of 33mm carbs, but I'm thinking I want to get some good suspension first.

Okay cool so a +4 sounds like a good size to get, I will probably get a ladder style. I've been really wanting a set of 33mm carbs, but I'm thinking I want to get some good suspension first.

 

My Opinion like all the other members said for the all around recreational rider that like both worlds and not making tons of HP the +4 is my suggested size swing arm for all my customers. Keeps your turning radius around the sand dunes and does nice around the bowls and whoops as well jumps. If your a heavier guy in the say..... 190-200ib + range you might want to consider having the rear shock set up as well or at least have the stiffer spring installed for the length difference or you'll be riding like we call it her L.A. Style . nose in the air and the tail to the ground. :huh: Not a very fun ride when you hit a bump. You can also try to just adjust the stock rear spring too along with the shock adjustments and see if you can get away with it with your weight.

 

Like sandfrk33 he's bike is nicely set up

Okay thats good to know, maybe I will plan on getting my shock redone. I should be right around 180 by spring time. I definitely don't want to be riding around LA style.

I went +4 and it's still a great bike for duning. Like Wicked said get your shock rebiult or at least get a heavier spring. I rode with the stock and it SUCKED! MattSCEC has my rear shock right now and I'm sure it will be great come New Years, he's already done a pair of front Elkas for me and I couldn't be happier. Hit him up he's got great pricing and quick turn around headbang.gif

Is it just really soft with a stock shock? Yeah Matt will for sure be getting my shock if I decide I need to re do it.

I'm around 220lbs. and I was bottoming out over everything. It was almost squatting to the limit just getting on it.

No fat jokes.

I didn't even think about the shock. I am also about 220 and I was bottoming the shock with the stock swinger. I bought the $100 heavy duty spring from Cascade when I put the swingarm on. It definetly made a big difference.

X2.......X-ring gold 120. I left my stock gearing also, seems to be just right for me.

Don't forget to get a new brake line!!
