SAMoloGY Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Guys, need some help here.. just got my 2006 banshee home and ive noticed that it does not idle when in gear.. idles fine in neutral.. runs great.. but, as soon as i put her into gear.. with the clutch fully diesngaged.. it dies! the only way around it is to raise the rpm's a bit and put into gear then letting go of the gas. i think this might be possible to the clutch not fully disengaging.. since, it does sometimes go into gear and idles fine but, as soon as its in gear.. even with the clutch fully pulled.. it still moves forward. ive tried to adjust the clutch.. but it made no difference, i still havent found out how to raise the idle as that will solve half the problem.. so, any help will be appreciated! SAMoloGY Posted December 2, 2010 Author Report Posted December 2, 2010 I should add... it just sounds like ur clutch fibers are worn out... which is a quick easy fix Thanks for the quick replies, care to share how?? I managed to raise the idle a tad.. Idles fine when in gear but still slowly rolls forward Quote
Larry's Shee Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Also be aware there is an adjustment for the clutch under the cover on the pressure plate. You're not getting enough travel/rotation on the clutch arm to push the pushrod. The other posters will have to explain how a worn out clutch won't disengage. A worn clutch will slip under load or not engage at all !! Has your clutch always been like this? What are you using for trans oil? If you have TORS idle ajust up there if not screws on side of carb , also try small adj of air screw. BTW, Welcome to BHQ !! Quote
Jereme6655 Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 im pretty sure that worn out (grooved) inner and outer clutch hubs will actually cause the clutch to not fully disengage. either way there is something going on with your clutch......it should not idle any different when in neutral than when it has the clutch fully disengaged. muggzy Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 A big X2 on the Transmission fluid AND the Clymer's manual. If your fluid is shitty b/c of a leaky seal or just plain old or cheap, that could do it. Also, the cable adjustment on the clutch lever might not be adjusted for free play properly. The Clymer's manual is the best $30 investment I've ever made on my Banshee and it's a great place to keep notes about your mods and jetting Quote
