wildcatfa0309 Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) ok ive got a 2002 banshee just to let ya know a lil about it the engine is supposed to be stock inside it has th t5 toomy pipes it has a white brothers boost bottle and a kand n air filter its my first banshee and ive only had it a week i traded my grizzly for it when i went to try it out it started with two kicks and run great and its one bad machine just a blast to ride when i got it home there was gas in the bed of my truck and the banshee would not start i shut the gas off and let it sit over night went out next morning and it wouldnt start still so i went and got 2 new spark plugs and put in it and it still wouldnt start i messed with it forever and finally sprayed just a hint of starting fluid in the cylinders and it started right up i figured it was just flooded from the night before and was so loaded up that it couldnt burn the gas just figured my problems were over, WRONG!! once i start it with the starting fluid it runs great and i mean absolutly perfect but if you shut it off and let it sit more than 30 minutes give or take it will not start back if you dont wait a whole lot longer than 30 minutes give or take when you go out to start it it will almost try to hit the first kick and after that if your gonna start it your gonna have to use the starting fluid i have noticed that the plugs are wet when i take them out and also even if i shut the gas off and let the bike run out of gas it still wont start up if i dont get back on it with en like i said before 30 minutes give or take im a pretty decent mechanic but its got me puzzled and what has me puzzled is with me letingit run out of gas and turning the gas off it still acts lik eits flooding any way just hope you guys can help me out thanks in advance josh Edited November 26, 2010 by wildcatfa0309 Quote
Larry's Shee Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Welcome to BHQ !! Try cleaning carbs one at a time ( as some parts are different) .Set float level . Be sure to install choke crossover tube. Dissasemble and clean fuel petcock. Might as well clean tank out too . Starting fluid won't hurt long as you don't get to crazy. Get a Clymers manual , well worth it !! Can't think of anything else , to early. Check back later . Yeah two strokes can be a bee otch when they get flooded. Quote
fastquad02blaster Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 After it sat overnight and you put new plugs in it, did you choke it when you were kicking it over. Mine, it seems like after riding and then it sitting 30 min or so will need half choked to get it to start. As for the gas in the bed of your truck, it's probably dirt in the carbs, not letting the float needle shut off your gas all the way. When you park it, shut off the petcock. I don't like finding out the next morning that has happened and you've wasted however much gas/oil mix on the shop floor. Quote
thrill-billy85 Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 definitely a carb problem. the gas in the bed of ur truck was probably a stuck float... in fact id bet money on it. the biggest thing i can tell ya is to check the choke vacuum tube between the carbs. does it have the TORS removed???? tors is a wierd box thing on top of the carbs. first off..... boost bottle.... throw it in the trash and replace it with the stock equalizing tube. theyre dyno proven not to do SHIT..... except crack your rubber intake manifolds, causing it to run lean, make it hard as fuck to start, and amybe blow up your motor or burn holes in the pistons. the way to find out if this is your problem: get it started, and spray a little starting fluid on the manifolds. if it revs up, then BINGO. theres your problem. honestly though... it sounds like when it was rejetted for the toomeys, the float bowls were put on the wrong carbs.... only the float bowl on the left carb has the choke circut. they both look the same but theyre not. the left carb has a brass siphon tube that feeds DOWN FROM the main body of the carb into a hole. IN THAT hole is a tiny brass jet... if the bowl thats on the left carb DOESNT have it, then theyre wrong. ive dealt with all the afore mentioned issues...... and id bet the bowls are WRONG. by that i mean wrong bowl on the wrong carb. if you dont figure it out, and wanna give up on it, i have a set of stock carbs for sale that i guarantee are correct. TORS removed, jetted..... slap em on and have some fun. $100 Quote
