NV-Banshee Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 I have a new stock 2006 and it is a pain in the but to get started, and when it does get started it is sluggish at low rpm's or in first gear. I also have a trx 400 and I changed the pilot jet in that to a bigger one and it starts up alot better than it did before the jet change will changing the pilot jets help this or is it the TORS? elevation is 4000 if that makes any difference Quote
Larry's Shee Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Are you using fresh fuel ? When was last time carbs were cleaned ? Quote
NV-Banshee Posted November 17, 2010 Author Report Posted November 17, 2010 Fresh fuel, and the quad is brand new off the showroom floor Quote
muggzy Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 (edited) It's not the TORS. It wouldn't idle at all. Could need re-jetting, might want to talk to the shop where you bought it to see what jets are in the thing (probably stock). But the temp and elevation will affect what they should be. Larry's Shee Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 If it's "brand new off showroom floor" take it back to dealer. If it has sat with fuel in carbs for four years , the gas evaporates leaving reidue in carbs. Quote
NV-Banshee Posted November 18, 2010 Author Report Posted November 18, 2010 The plugs look good so I don't think it coould be the mains. I do believe they put it together prior to me picking it up so I don't think there has been fuel sitting in the carbs that long. I feel it is the pilot jet's do the fact that the pilot jets are used at closed to 1/4 throttle. Quote
