barker Posted November 13, 2010 Author Report Posted November 13, 2010 I have my doubts that the flywheel would spin around the crank. once i cleaned up the shaft a bit and got a proper key (local Yamaha dealer gave me a key that was too small....) the flywheel went on very tight. I tapped it on with a rubber mallet and even without the nut on i couldn't budge it. hopefully that and the amount of locktite I put on the nut will keep everything together. hitting the sand tomorrow so fingers crossed that she holds up. Rotax Raptor Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 That key is for timing alignment only. It's not intended to keep the flywheel in place. My PVL ignition doesn't even have a key way in the flywheel. Getting it tight on the clean tapered shaft is the ticket. Quote
