Hey guys, I went (or tried to go) riding last weekend and had a problem with losing spark. It would start fine, idle fine, and for the first 5 to 10 minutes run fine. After that it would start bogging and eventually just die. I pulled the plugs and had no spark. This happened saturday and sunday. It seems like as it got good and warm then I'm guessing either the coil or cdi is failing. Thanks in advance for any advice.

same thing happened to mine the other day. now i just have no spark and have no idea what would have caused it.

I'm going to go through my manual and check on ohming different parts, but I don't know if it makes a difference if it's cold or not. The guys on here have been through pretty much any scenario possible, so I'll wait for someone to reply. Had to happen to someone else before.

I would test cold and warmed up and see what resistance you have and compare,but dont know if you can test your cdi though

+1 on that one. This would tell you for sure if something heating up is the prob or not.

ohm everything out, including the stator. check the plug caps for moisture, wires melting on the exhaust, and go ride it untill it hapens, and give the cdi a good smack and see if it sparks. that is about the only test you can do. it actually makes dry solder connections work again. another thing that happened to me- the wires were breaking off the key switch, and it would cut spark intermittently when i went through water, but eventually pick back up when it dried. it went on for like an hour, then i finally had to find, and bypass the problem on the trails because it would cut out when i turned the bars at that point....

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to first check for burnt or broken wires, then ohm everything cold and see what I get for readings. The manual gives specs at 68 degrees so thats why I'll check it cold first. I'll post up if I get it figured out.
