weird sound from exhaust

Hey guys,

 

Got a 96 Banshee. Snorkle removed and k&n air filter. running 220 main.

 

During idle or light throttle it makes a weird Chirping / backfire?? sound from the right exhaust. About as best as I can explain the noise lol. Im gonna try to get a video of it tomorrow. But it will do it idling but not too often. Mostly when I lightly feather the throttle. Talking like 1/4 throttle. And its not consistant either. When it does it it almost seems like a extra puff of exhaust blows out a little harder...but hard to really tell as I dont really get much for smoke. I been playing with the air screw and it seems like it does it less when its in more rather then out. But was thinking maybe an air leak possibly? Any Ideas would be appreciated!! Thanks much.

have you put new spark plugs in? sounds like a fouled plug.

Ya I put some in a while back and it seems like it got worse. I used BR9ES plugs though cuz thats all I had. Im gonna go get some new plugs here and maybe some new jets. maybe i will replace my pilot jets

Try BR8ES when you buy new ones. Check the little screw on nub that the plug wire snaps on to, sometimes those come loose and create weak spark. My bike was doing this awhile back because the nubs came unscrewed.

 

If not then pull the plug out, ground it, and have somebody kick it over (fuel off). Compare the spark from each plug. Check your wires for any cracks, check all your connections from the ign coil. Check your stator pickup gap at both contacts. This is more likely an elec issue rather than fuel/air
