TIM LUTZ Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Any of you all trail ride with a lock up? After this last build (Aprox 70 HP) my clutches are slipping soon as I get on the pipes. I’ve had lockups in drag bikes before but we used air shifters. I like the way we use to “tune” the clutch with weights and weak springs so it would slip off the line. Is it going to be a bitch to shift at 10,000 RPMs? How hard will the clutch lever be to pull? P.S. PM me if you have a lock up cover for sale. It don't have to be a show piece. Quote
jbooker82 Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 I trail and dune ride my lockup with a standard transmission just fine. It is a direct drive lockup with there New Die Cast Cover. Just make sure you have a good clutch cable and lever. I run the 6 oem springs with mine as well. Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 I use Jeffs clutch (F.A.S.T), magnum billet basket and a Gigot undercover slingshot. This setup works great together for me and i mostly ride open trails and logging roads in the mountains with some dunes on the side. In my opinion, it's bulletproof for what i have and all at a fair price. Clutch pull is fine and i use a shorty ASV. Quote
AKheathen Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 contrary to what i was told by some, the lockup is extremely usefull in trails/woods. i can let it slip and have it still hold great, which helps for traction and rideability. i slip the clutch a lot in some places i ride. i can feel it a little harder around 9k, but still able to pull just fine. lock-up or not, shifting under load is going to be hard without an override, slipping the clutch, or blipping the throttle. just put a little pressure on the shifter before bliping and it'll shift fine 99% of the time.
