AdrenalineJunky Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 I am missing some bolts and such and instead of ordering OEM stuff and getting ripped I am gonna just go to hardware store or Lowes. What I am needing: Axle nuts, engine mount bolts ( the ones that go to underside of crankcase) and the nut that goes to the bottom of steering stem. Some how I came up missing on some hardware. I'm sure my kids know where they went but ain't saying LOL. Quote
AdrenalineJunky Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 I meant rear axle hub nuts, not axle nuts. Quote
madjimmax Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Chances are that the local hardware store is not going to have what you need because of thread pitch. If I was you I would PM Nyuk, he parts out alot of banshees and chances are he might have what you need. You can also buy a complete stainless bolt kit from Alloyboltz on Ebay they cost like $115 but thats pretty much every bolt and nut for your shee. The only thing it dont include is upper aarm bolts swinger pivot bolt foot pegs and bottom motor mount bolts. I bought one along with alot of the guys on here. The only thing is if you go this route make sure you follow all directions, as far as always using antiseize or blue loctite if you dont do this the nuts and bolts will cold weld and break. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 I recently tried to get new motor mount bolts at the local hardware store(which has a VERY large selection) and they did not have the corrcet size, they did not go that long in 10mm. Also, on Ebay there are some guys selling boxes of bolts from Banshee part outs that are fairly cheap. Quote
muggzy Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Even MORE important than the finding the correct sizes at a local chain store - you'll NEVER find the correct hardness. Much of the hardware on your ride is (8) or (10) hardness (that's what the number on the top of the bolts is all about. If the hardness doesn't match the application, you'll likely have a failure while riding. Motor City ATV sells boxes of hard ware left over from part outs. Overall, the cost is reasonable if you can get past his ridiculous shipping charges. Quote
AdrenalineJunky Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 Thanks gentlemen I appreciate the input. Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 and i believe the sprocket hub nuts are m8x1.25 Quote
AdrenalineJunky Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 (edited) Yah I have a Fastenal. Only thing is I don't know what sizes I need. Is there any information anywhere that states the sizes of the hardware used or does anyone know of a link. Don't have the hardware to compare to for sizing. Just saw the post, WOW awesome that's what Ineeded. Appreciate it. Edited August 26, 2010 by AdrenalineJunky Quote
AdrenalineJunky Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 I had to buy a bolt for the car the other day and Advance had little packages of 1.25 metric bolts. I don't know what grade they are though. Should get me by for now thx again for that post. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 and i believe the sprocket hub nuts are m8x1.25 Problem with that chart is it does not tell you the length or hardness. Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 pm nyuk and see if he has a box of bolts he can sell you. The fastenal in my area is loaded with hot girls working the counter, but the actual guy that orders the parts is a flaming moron. I've never been able to get Yamaha bolts from them. Quote
AdrenalineJunky Posted August 28, 2010 Author Report Posted August 28, 2010 PM'd NYUK. Hope he has everything I need, Quote
