06specialedition Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 My friend owed me some money so he ended up giving me some Race Fuel. My question is, does race fuel change my jetting? If so, how much? I don't want to re-jet just to run this fuel when my shee is set up for pump gas normally. I just figured what the hell I mite as well run this fuel since he gave it to me. He said it is Leaded VP 111. He runs it in his shee and hasn't had any issues. Thanks Quote

It depends on the fuel, my race fuel runs fatter then 94 pump gas and its heavily leaded, I have not tried VP 110. Just put a tank in and run it through the gears and pull the plugs and see if its lean or fat. If ya dont like how your plugs look drain the tank or re jet accordingly. Or, mix it half and half with Pump Gas. so it wont be such a huge change. Edited August 18, 2010 by EvilBanshee Quote
06specialedition Posted August 18, 2010 Author Report Posted August 18, 2010 Yeah I was planning on mixing 50/50 with some 91 pump gas. I would rather be a little rich than lean. Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Yeah I was planning on mixing 50/50 with some 91 pump gas. I would rather be a little rich than lean. Just an FYI... race gas does NOT give you more power regardless of how it is mixed with 91. If you ran 91, you will not notice any power gains, and in all actuality, could hurt performance if you don't have enough compression to burn it efficiently. Quote

My bike is set up right now for pump gas. Maybe I won't run that race fuel after all..... Quote
jayzx10r Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 You might as well burn it up. There are not any negative consequences to your motor by using it. Running 50/50 would be OK. It'll keep you from spending those dollars on fuel that you would anyhow so use it up!! Quote
AKheathen Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 if you are jetted right for pump, you might end up a little lean. and make sure your premix oil can support the race gas without separation Quote
06specialedition Posted August 18, 2010 Author Report Posted August 18, 2010 I run Klotz R-50, I know it won't mix with alky but I'm not sure about race fuel. So race fuel will make it leaner if I'm jetted for pump? Quote

So race fuel will make it leaner if I'm jetted for pump? yah, generally, you need to go up on jetting, but if you are already 1 size rich, it would probably be spot. the bottle should say something about higher s.g. compatibility if there is a prob. dajogejr Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Yep...burn it up, but next time get cash from your buddy...lol. As said, you won't get any performance increase, if anything...your motor might suffer a little performance. It burns slower and it could feel a little doggy or lazy... Quote

Damn I don't want it to be doggy or lazy feeling I'm sure I will have some good races labor day weekend and need my bike to be running tip top Quote
jbooker82 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Yep a engine develops maximum power on the edge of detonation. Running race fuel in an egnine that is stup for pump fuel pushes you farter back from that edge. As said before next time get cash. Quote
06specialedition Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 Yeah I guess I'll burn it up, but sounds like I'll be sticking with 91 pump for the future Quote
