WishItwasDone Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Ok the cheetah cub 421 motors are they And all around rider? What i mean is can i just ride it around trails and race track and such? Or is it just a drag motor? Like down and back turn it off? Just curious THinkin about goin crazy on my first banshee this winter Quote
Phelps Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 the cubs can be ridden in many different ways but it was designed as a drag cylinder. i used to get hard up to ride on my old shee and would go trail riding. does it work great in the trails? meh not really, does it dune good? stock port clean up they do great! depends really on how tight are your trials? if it's heavily wooded i would say just have a sponsor do a good port job and be happy. WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Some will say they ride a 421 cub on woods/trails, but in reality the best motor for the kind or riding your talking about would be a nice 4 mill ported stock cylinder stroker motor. The cub will leave you burping the gas all day and never feeling like you got to really open it up. It's best as a dune/drag motor. Not really designed for the dirt type stuff, unless you are near alot of fire roads. Quote
Burt Reynolds Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 FOr the money you would spend on a 421 cub you could build a stock cylinder 4mil monster! Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Wait a few more months, new cylinder is coming out with port timings for trail/dune and producing 70+ hp. Can't wait to get mine Quote

dirtydownunder Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 cerval but for 70hp you should build a stock cylinder 4mm, my under standings of the cerval cubs were 80ish+ hp with a nicer curve than the cheetah cubs.. we will find out soon i guess. 70-75hp is stock cylinder territory tho.... RadarRacing Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I agree with them too a cub isn't really trail friendly its nothing and then all of a sudden its spinning or standing up. Not good for creeks, hills etc. They run cool cuz they have good cooling but power delivery is all wrong for most. Quote
dajogejr Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I'm waiting on the serval cylinders as well...can't wait to see them. I do not know the pricing of them, but I'm going to assume they'll be in line with the smaller cubs (875ish or so) The advantages are you won't have to have a spacer or domes cut for a stroker and they will have better cooling capacity. There is the Nikasil/Cast iron debate. Both have plus and minus on them. You'll have to decide whether a 350 to 500 port job on your cylinders is worth it or buy a set with bigger pistons already ported is worth your time and money.... Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Should have one back from plating any day now. Planning on doing some dyno testing with it immediately. Pricing should be cheaper than a cub (at least that's what Calvins shooting for) but we will see if he can get there) Quote
