AdrenalineJunky Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 I am checking the tranny before I screw it and glue it and never had a shifting problem before but now when checking the tranny for each gear it is binding in certain places. Don't know why. I checked the gap and made sure it's equal on both sides where it contacts shift star. Really aggervated. Any ideas? Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 If you are testing it while the cases are split, you need to spin the crank or out put at the same time. If you keep the trans moving while you shift, you should be able to shift through the gears just fine. Check for chips in the teeth or debri, if you have neither, your trans should be fine. Quote
AdrenalineJunky Posted August 3, 2010 Author Report Posted August 3, 2010 O.K. I ain't moving nothing just trying to shift it. I will try spinning the shaft as I shift. I think it will be o.k. Quote

Yeah normally trannys wont shift past second without turning the tranny at the same time. If it binds in an odd manner, the rod holding the gears could be bent. Quote
