banshee67 Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 hey i was thinking which would offer more power and keep the snappy acceleration without it bogging out? any opinions? Quote
Phelps Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 bore and stroke has nothing to do with bog....... stroke in most cases is the better way to go. Quote
mopar1rules Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Adding compression will always help out throttle response and low end grunt all the way to top end and its cheaper than either of the above options. Quote
RagunCajun Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 When I stroked mine I was told it would smooth out the hit and it did. Quote
banshee67 Posted July 2, 2010 Author Report Posted July 2, 2010 i mainly was wondering wich would produce a higher power output Quote
toytech Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 i mainly was wondering wich would produce a higher power output it depends on how far you go with both, I went with a 4mil and an agresive dune port Quote
EvilBanshee Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 i was always told you ll get more over all power out of a big bore then you will a stroker. strokers only give you low end torque. Quote
Nutwood 472 Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 i was always told you ll get more over all power out of a big bore then you will a stroker. strokers only give you low end torque. I went with both,472cc stroker,72mm bore and a 4mil long rod crank, love it,has plenty of power and is pretty smooth, had Andy at M&M atv port the cylinders and cases, runs great! Quote
EvilBanshee Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I went with both,472cc stroker,72mm bore and a 4mil long rod crank, love it,has plenty of power and is pretty smooth, had Andy at M&M atv port the cylinders and cases, runs great! Wow that s sounds like a kick ass kit. Im in the middle of building up a 421 with the 68mm bore and a long rod stroker crank. Im hoping it should make some serious power. Where did you get that 72mm sleeve from??? Quote
Burt Reynolds Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 IF your keeping stock cylinders i would go with a stroker. Take for instance a stock port bike with 30mm carbs and toomey t5's,you are probably in the range of 45ish hp. Drop a 4mm crank in and lower your ports to run it correctly and you be up in the 60's for hp. You can get really high hp out of a big bore stock crank cub,but then you will have a mostly drag motor. STock cylinder ported 4mils set up right are monsters Quote
banshee67 Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 so if i bored up too about a 400cc, would i get better power with that or say a 2 or three mil crank Quote
EvilBanshee Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 oh for sure, i use to have a 404 big bore, stock stroke, that thing was pretty wicked fast at the high end. but it had zero low end power. Quote
banshee67 Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 wouldnt the crank add somemore bottom end? Quote
EvilBanshee Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 wouldnt the crank add somemore bottom end? Oh for sure it would, hell do both, That way you get the best of both worlds. I just bought a entire engine kit from Vito's. 421 68mm big bore with a long rod stroker kit. Quote
banshee67 Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 do you know where i could get a 2 mill crank for a decent price? all i have found are 4 mill and above Quote
