Mushroomed Pushrod.

I bought a Blaster for $200 for my g/f.

 

So it seems the pushrods and bearing welded themselves together, and the side of the pushrod that comes in contact with the push lever assembly has mushroomed and I can't slide it out.

 

I have the motor out and I'm trying to get away with not splitting the case so she can be riding this thing by the weekend.

I've tried a dremel to grind the mushroom off but it's in there about 3.5" deep and I can't find any attachment that will get in there that deep.

My next plan of action is a series of rill bits.

 

Anyone have any tricks for this?

Split the cases before you damage something else.

Nah man. I have faith I can get this thing out in 5 minutes with the right tool.

 

I'm just looking for some advice from someone who has done it.

That pushrod is probably hardened and when you use a drill bit on it you are going to end up with a bunch of broken pieces in the hole.

yea, this is not good. chances are that thing is not going to come out of there without damaging the clutch shaft itself.

Flip the bike on its side and prop it up (clutch facing up of course). Grab a small strong magnet and some fishing line. Tie the magnet on to the line and go fishing.
