cain Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 I was wondering if it matters if the power and ground wires are swithced ( Orange and Black) Thanks for any help anyone might be able to give. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 I know on a traditional coil in a car with a distributor and seperate coil there is a positive and a negative terminal on the coil, and if you get them reversed that it severely cuts coil output. According to the Yamaha manual the orange wire goes on the rear terminal of the cil and the black wire goes on the front terminal. But i you look closely at the coil that is backwards based on polarity, and I have heard some guys say you should hook it up the other way. Mine is wired orange/front and black/rear since that is the way it came when I bought the bike brand new from the dealer and it was several years before I even heard about reversing the wires, it has always ran fine that way and I have never bothered to see how it would run wired the other way.
