Pappa Kaneda Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 On a recent ride a friend of mine toasted my Shee. He kept doing donuts in first gear until it overheated then locked up. We took it apart and the pistons are scored, so are the cylinder walls. A rod also threw a bearing and I'm down on my crank too. The friend who did the damage has agreed to pay for the fix of it. I'm looking at new bigger pistons and a new crank. My question is: Can you run a 4mill with a stock head and no porting? I would love to have a 4mill and since the price of a 4mill is just a tad over a stock crank I don't see the harm in making my buddy pay for it. I don't want to completely bone him by making him pay for other things that he didn't break. My bike was 0.01 over Wiseco pistons, stock stroke Hotrod crank, stock carbs, stock head, snorkel removed, and TORS disconnected. Thank you. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 My son's 'shee is exactly what your describing. 4mil, long rod, 795 pistons, 2mil solid copper head gasket,no porting or head work, stock pipes. Wouldn't have known it had this if he hadn't flipped it into a mud hole and I had to take the engine COMPLETLY apart.Previous owner said nothing about it, probably didn't know. IMHO doing it that way is an option for you, you can do the porting and other stuff later when you have $ and time (winter). Got a set of pipes for son, and when he wants more power I'll get it ported. Hope this helps you. Quote
Pappa Kaneda Posted April 11, 2010 Author Report Posted April 11, 2010 Thanks much, I actually have an old set of Toomeys on the bike so hopefully that will help. Again thank you. Quote
