hey people

I will tell u about our banshee. Its 98 that we bought last year.

thing ran awesome.but last year it lost compression in one cylinder on our ride here in Michigan.did a compression test and it was low, don't remember what psi.anyway that weekend leading up to what happened is this. One of the boys riding the shee came back ,said it was runing bad, spark plug came out, right side, happened 4 times on different rides, seemed tight every time i put it back in.then another boy came back and the throttle stop screw i think that was it was missing on left side carb, looked all weekend for a replacemt, but could not find one, could not even find a screw with the right threads,so the dumb ass that i am i found a plastic plug to plug hole so no sand or dirt would get inside.anyway right side lost comp.not left, but right side spark plug keep coming out.blew up another bike that weekend too, glad we had three. So tore it down when got home and right side piston was tore up,not on top but on side.was told that the thing was bored 40 over the year before and it only had a couple of rides on it when we bought it i was told.anyway just had the jugs bored 60 over, guy said they had a nice port job done to them. From the paper work that was given to me it said that it had the following done to it.

Level VI portwork inclding welding, port match upper cases, lighter flywheel, ether drill or trued and welded crankshaft, cut and rechambered head,v force reeds, modify carbs.gold series FMF fatty pipe,FMF turbine core 2 mufflers, has k&n pods,no air box.axle seems to wider than it should but don't know if its longer.Need to buy carb rebuild kit but don't know if they are stock.I mesured I.D. of front of carbs and got 1.100 and i think that is close to 28mm but could have did it wrong. Can stock mikuni carbs be 28mm. number on carb said they were stock.but some one had them worked on.I have a stock head that some one gave me.don't know if i have to have it match the jugs i just had done, want to run pumped gas.Banshee had race fuel in it when we bought it but guy said we could run pump gas.MY freind nextdoor races drag bikes and he said that after it messed up that mybe i should not have run pump gas cause of the way the piston looked, like i was getting detonation on side of piston on the side that lost compression.I got the new/used head because the plug kept coming out of the other one.Still dont know why it messed up.Well theres probably more but cant think right now, don't know about the timing. thanks for looking.

Your plug kept coming loose because you were running pump gas in a high compression engine. When a plug comes loose it is rattling loose from detonation. Not enough octane for the compression you are running.

the spark plug that came out was a sign of too much compression and detonation. was the head a stocker that had been milled or an aftermarket head with o-rings? if its aftermarket just get bigger domes to lower the compression.

and im guessing the idle screw came out while riding? if theyre stock carbs you can get the screw from motion pro or toomey or anybody else that sales the TORS elimination kit.

it has a stock milled head with a rechambered dome and can i go back with a stock head? no mill,we us it to trail ride

You could buy a coolhead and run a 21cc dome and still use pump gas and have more compression for the power increase and still be safe. Or if you don't want to spend the money you could use a stock head that is shaved .030 or just run it stock. I like the coolhead option because you can change the dome to whatever compression you want, and they look cool.

Just get a 60 over headgasket and you are good to go.
