White97Banshee Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Hey guys, I have a Cascade pancake bearing for my clutch and I was wondering exactly how to install it? Does the jam nut go on the outside of the pressure plate? Also is there supposed to be a washer behind it? The pancake bearing itself is a 3 piece setup with 2 washers and the bearing itself. Can anyone shed some light on how this is done? pics would be even better, thanks! Quote
01banch Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 mine is installed washer, bearing, washer and yes the jamnut goes outside the pressure plate. Quote
White97Banshee Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 Thanks! I installed it and got it adjusted and everything seems correct, but I took pics just to get some feedback and make sure. Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics! Quote
White97Banshee Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 Alright thanks a lot! This thing has been giving me hell all week with the factory adjuster and it stripped out so i ordered this one from cascade and it took only minutes Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 You did it right.Did you dab any grease on the bearing? You don't have to but it is a good idea. Either way it will get some oil to it, just good to have something so it's not metal on metal during your first dry start up. Quote
Profilact Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 You have some pretty deep grooves in that basket. Any problems with clutch not fully engaging\disengaging at all? Quote
White97Banshee Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 No problems with the clutch not engaging fully, I noticed the deep grooving and I smoothed it out with a file so I wouldn't encounter any problems. Also no I didn't grease the bearing I figured it would get oiled pretty well. Thanks for everything guys! Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 ya that basket is grooved pretty badly, hate to be the bearer of bad news but i think its time for a magnum billet. I thought mine was grooved bad! Cody Quote
White97Banshee Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 Unfortunately I can't afford it so I went with the ghetto alternative of filing down the grooves to make em a little smoother lol. I didn't have any problems with the plates snagging on the grooves before so I should be in the clear for a while longer.. Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 hows the play between the basket and the gear? I dont have the money either lol, but dont want you to run into trouble down the road either just like myself. Quote
White97Banshee Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 I just went and checked and it all seems pretty solid Quote
