KickStartMyHeart Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I would like to know who is running the toomey needle kit and how you like it. What is so special about the needle kit? And will I see some gains from the kit? Im running stock carbs now and thinking about upgrading to 35mm carbs, and will this kit work in a set of 35mm carbs? My setup consists of: milled head, +4 timing, JSR ported cylinders, T-5 pipes, Vforce 3 reeds. Quote
KickStartMyHeart Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 Come on boys!! Someone has something on this question Quote
White97Banshee Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 I don't personally run the kit but I asked them about it.. They claim smoother power delivery rather than the lightswitch power you feel when you get on the pipes. I'm not too sure if it's true or if it's worth it but that's my opinion. Quote
Sandfrk33 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 They do make a smoother powerband on stock carbs. I do not think you can use them with 35"s. They fit mikuni jets. Quote
firebanshee Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 I have a set of toomey needles in one of my bikes, they are in stock carbs and they have 6 grooves instead of 5 like stock and have a different taper. I like them but i don't see any huge power gains, but the bike has no flat spots and pulls hard all the way through. I run mine 3 from the bottom groove. I run them with T-5s and pod filters. I don't know if they will work in 35 carbs. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 They wont work in Keihen carbs of any size, they should work in any size Mikuni carb that is is the same series or model as the stocker regardless of size. Stock carbs are Mikuni VM26s and most 35mm carbs are Keihens. Toomey claims they give a smoother powerband, but I have never tried them. Cascade also has some special needles for the stock carbs but I know nothing about them. Quote
