Hank Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 I have a 2000 Banshee with Toomey T6 pipes, Noss cool head with 19cc domes, +4 timing, K&N filter pods, & 14/41 gearing. I also run VP C12 race fuel due to the high compression. It is currently jetted as recommended by Toomey with the stock idle jet 25 and 280 mains. I am in Florida so I need jetting for sea level and usually 70 degree plus temperatures. Am I jetted pretty good or should I go up? Also, any recommendations for my gearing? I mostly trail ride but want to smoke the 4 strokes in the wide open runs... Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 i recommend you put a 27.5 pilot in there. the 280 might be pretty close. you need to do a wide open throttle plug check to see what the plugs look like. white = lean tan = good black = rich gearing will depend on your mods, swingarm length, rider weight and terrain. if youre riding any kind of tight trails, i would probably stay with what you have. Hank Posted March 16, 2010 Author Report Posted March 16, 2010 Will the 27.5 give me more bottom end? Thanks... Quote
GrMeyer Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I agree with Loco! Read up on this site to help you understand the jetting of the banshee and what does what. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html Also, what is your compression? There is no need to be running the full effect of the C12. You can lean it down with some pump gas to get more gas out of the mix. Unless you just like throwing money to make it rain. Also if your having shitty bottom end, check your carb sync Quote
Hank Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 My compression is 170 lbs so would can I run 50/50 C12 with pump fuel? Also, I weigh 215 so should I stay with the 14/41 gearing? Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 whats your elevation? what part of fl? i live in alabama at about 500asl with similar mods and run 290 mains so 280 sounds close. like loco and GrMeyer said, do a plug chop or wot plug test and see close your jetting is. my gearing is also the same. i leave in 2nd gear when dragging though. Hank Posted March 30, 2010 Author Report Posted March 30, 2010 Ok, I got the 27.5 pilot jets installed and noticed my carbs were not synced well. One opened up well before the other so I did some adjusting on the cable and finished it off using the unisyn tool. The banshee rips now! I've got the air screw opened to about 2.25. Incredible how the bottom end came alive with a little adjusting. Thank for the help guys... Quote
