measure the inside of the cylinder side of the carb. you can measure it in inches.. here are some common carb sizes and their inch conversion..

26mm - 1.02 inches

28mm - 1.1 inches

30mm - 1.18 inches

33mm - 1.29 inches

35mm - 1.37

To find out how big the carbs are you have to measure the ID (inside diameter) of the carbs. The part that goes to the intake boot. And if you need to find filters. You just measure the OD (outside diameter) of the mouth of the carbs. You might as well just go and buy a micrometer. They are only about $10 for a cheap on with digital read out. I got mine from Checker when I use to work there. It will measure shit in MM and Inches. It is a good investment because you will all ways be using that tool for other things as well. Also comes in handy for shims in shocks and other engine parts.

you have to measure the bore next to the slide, at its' smallest point. you can use a toothpick and trim it untill it just barely fits, then measure the toothpick. the stock carbs will come to be almost 28mm if you just measure the bore where it clamps into the intake boots.

to convert decimal to fraction simply take the first number divided by the second.. so 3/8 is 3 divided by 8 which equals .375

your 1.375 decimal measurement would lead me to believe you have 35mm carbs (:
