Mark M Posted January 8, 2010 Author Report Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) hey guys i looked into both holes, the one that has the big gold screw and gold lock nut and this is what i found ... heres the screw removed ... and heres the hole that one came out of .. now when i look through the above hole i can see the slide moving up and down, but cant see the slide through the other meaning its not tapped. is this not tapped and threaded for a reason? seeing its not tapped and threaded could this not be my bogging problem since theres no air coming thru that hole? ------------------------------------------------ also heres the top of both someone asked to see. Mark M Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 so do i even need the 2nd idle screw since its not tapped yet? it seems to idle ok? Quote
t3h hott! Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 bro, like previously stated, u need to tap that hole where ur finger is and add an idle screw to that carb... to diagnose ur bogging problem u need to eliminated the obvious before u go any further, get the idle screw and re-sync ur carbs and see if that works, if it don't then post back. Mark M Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 my friend showed me something while riding it yesterday, since it seems that one pipe is shutting off during this bog that it more than likely has nothing to do with the carb(s), that it probably is a spark thing, for me to take off the tank and check the harnesses for the coils ... any truth to this? banshee#44 Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 GOD DAMN YOUR STUPID!! MAYBE THIS HUGE CAPS PRINT WILL CATCH YOUR ATTENTION SO YOU WILL READ IT AND GET WHAT TO DO. YOU NEED TO TAP AND PUT THE OTHER IDLE SCREW IN YOUR OTHER CARB WERE YOUR FINGER IS IN THE PREVIOUS PICTURE YOU POSTED. AFTER DOING THAT YOU NEED TO SYNC YOUR CARBS THEN CHECK YOUR JETTING AND AFTER DOING ALL THAT YOU WILL HAVE A DECENT RUNNING BANSHEE. NOTE: STOP LISTENING TO YOUR DUMBASS FREINDS WHO PROBABLY DONT EVEN OWN A BANSHEE Quote
DallasGDub Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Both carbs need idle screws, both carbs need to be set and synced together. I posted where to get the second idle screw. I posted pics where to put it. If you have 2 out of sync carbs, one pipe will sound diff. You have diff air/fuel ratios going into each cycl, so it will run like shit. Yes it is that simple. I have read over this thread a few times. It is pretty clear what needs to be done, and all you need to know has been posted. It is up to you to take the time to read it, maybe trying using the advice given. If your friends think they know what is wrong, then try that, let us know if it works. Quote
LIM_Whiteboy4life Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Also missing lock tabs for the carb tops haha Quote
Mark M Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 Thanks! Ill be using all these suggestions tonight, havent had time until now to work on her ... Thanks again ....... Quote
AKheathen Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 hmmmmm....... ok, i posted this in your other thread, but here it is again who knows what happened, but i'm sure the guy wasn't simply lazy or stupid, and he is not here to explain, but that left carb seems to have a pretty shinny new choke knob, which could suggest that it was replaced. could be that the original was messed up by a broken tap or whatever and not retapped. check that it has all the parts that goes to it, including the air jet in the opening. t'ward the filter at the bottom. it is possible, but not reliable to sync the carbs and make it idle by using the cable adjuster at the top, and rule out that being the source of the bog. now-here is an important thing to look at- in one of your pics, i noticed that the fuel line has chaffed pretty deep into that boost bottle and can leat to a horrible air leak pretty quickly. i would ditch it and install the stock cross-over tube. the missing air jet, air leak, and out-of-sync can all cause that bog you describe. and, really there are amany other things, from adjustments, to electrical, to mechanical. also, i'm not 100%, but a factory mikuni idle screw should be the same thread size and should work fine, but the issue is coming across that rare sized tap. if you post in wanted, or ask around, even farm and sand toys (FAST) should be able to supply you just fine, as well as answer any q's you have...
