I live in michigan and I'm thinking of getting my head milled .020 instead of buying a "coolhead".And I was wondering who knows of a good place right close to hear that would do it and do right. And what would I need to do after I get this done as far as tuning, and would a squish band test be a good idea also. Thanks any help would be great.

Ive heard nothing but good things form peeps on here about Lakes Motor Sports in Waterford, Michigan http://www.lakesmotorsports.com/ And seeing how you want to keep it local. Drop by or give them a ring.

I always do a squish test after any time i take my head off, then stick it back on. Hell it takes 5-10 min so why not right. Watch this so you know exactly what to do and i don't have to type it all out here :rotflmao:

i believe he has a head exchange, too, so you can get a pre-cut head and send yours to save time....squish should be between .030 and .045 optimally, but it can run higher just fine

thanks for all the help guys,is their anything else I should do when tuning? currently .020 wiseco pistons, k&n pods, +4 timing, fmf gnarly pipes & scileners, stage 3 dyno jet kit, stock carbs and pilots 2 turns out 340 mains 800ft elev. I ask this because I have my head off now and both cylinders have a polished look to them with a little lite scratch, and I was told polish look is normal because of thrust and lite scratches might be cylinder wash from to much gas. Ran great before putting it for the winter.thanks again.

No, a polished look is not what you want. polished means lack of oil retention. We add crosshatching to cylinders to increase oil retention. It would be important to hone the cylinders at a minimum (add cross hatching). Vertical stridations in the bore can be numerous things but usually comes from over heating or FOD damage.
