Kwietshee Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Ok so I went to Glamis for thanks giving and bike ran fine all week. Except for the last day I was there, I went for a ride and bike started to bog down and wouldn't respond to throttle input. Bike shut off completely and wouldn't restart. When I cycled the kickstart it felt like it still had compression. I only have about 10-15 hours on a fresh top end. But kick start would almost feel like it wanted to kick backwards against my foot. My uncle got on and tried to kick it over and said it felt like the crank went on it. Any body got any ideas? Haven't even had a chance to look at it yet, been too busy. Thanks in advance. Quote
AKheathen Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 well, it can kick backwards sometimes.......when it gets a good pop-off and yyou have higher compression.......or fires too soon......did you have the flywheel off? i would check the flywheel and pickup gap. first, and do a comprssion check. hopefully you did one when you put it together to compare it to.....doesn't sound like the crank....it would knock or squeal....that actually sounds exactly what happens when the flywheel comes off. you can barely tell it's acting funny before it starts to bog out and die. don't try to pull-start it, either... Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 I would pull the flywheel and make sure you didn't sheer the key off. What ratio of premix are you running? How do the plugs look? This could determine if you are getting enough oil to the bearings... Quote
Kwietshee Posted December 8, 2009 Author Report Posted December 8, 2009 Ill check the flywheel as soon as I can get it in my garage, and I'm running 40:1 with Yamalube. I am not running high compression just stock head. My compression after top end done was about 130 psi on both jugs. thanks again I was kinda hoping I wasn't going to have to split cases. Quote
